I created an iNum number on Vonage (through their iPhone app) last year. But who could really dial it? It's a long number with an international code that's hard to remember. I can't see it being much more than a number for geeks and VOiP savvy individuals to play around with.

Several companies are providing this inum service like Truphone and Gizmo but the service is limited to specific areas only , iNum provides a number with a global code of 883, through which you can access anywhere in the world.

@ Mr Peanut
Its a fact that the numbers are long and hard to memorize but the fact that iNum is itself free of charge and calls from Inum numbers to inum numbers are free, with Voxbone signing contract with several service providers, it sure have a long way to go and considering the fact that Skype is the competitor for inum, it cannot be underestimated that though the numbers being long......... they have surely attracted millions.

833 a number given by ITU for iNUM numbers, once the user has dialed the given iNum number, it will pass through the following exchanges, namely
Arbinet
Level 3
Belgacom
Stealth's Voice Peering Fabric
All these names mentioned above are service provider for voice and IP solutions for different carriers, working for the routing of 883 numbers.
After going through all these peering carriers the call will be routed to the specified destination. Though Voxbone claims that it is independent of VoIP but the process is to some extent synonymous to VoIP.

INum numbers are both accessible by IP and PSTN, with more the number of carriers adding under the banner of iNum, its usage in escalating.

The more carriers added, they are venturing towards free calls to iNum numbers, several service providers are working with Voxbone for the promotion of iNum numbers. If you are a truphone or Gizmo user, once you are provided with a SIP number you will be able to access the iNum number easily by replacing initial digits of it and contacting your service provider, you will be able to get this service.
Unfortunately we don't have any of such services in the South Asian region.
